Frequently asked questions
Ordering from another country raises reasonable questions. Here are the ones we are asked most, answered as straightly as we can.
Before you order
What is Klin Source, exactly?
An import service. You choose a product from a Chinese wholesale supplier, pay in taka, and we do the rest: buying, consolidating, freight, customs and delivery to your door. You never deal with the supplier, the shipping line or customs. More about how it works.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes: ৳1,500 per supplier. Each supplier ships its own order, so the items you buy from one supplier must add up to at least that amount. Several products from the same supplier count together. Individual products may also carry the supplier's own minimum quantity, which is shown on the product page.
Are the prices really final?
The taka price on a product page already includes the supplier's price, domestic freight inside China, currency conversion and our service fee. The only thing added afterwards is international shipping, which is charged by weight and cannot be known until your parcel is weighed. There are no customs bills or brokerage fees to follow.
Can I order a single piece to test a product?
Usually yes, as long as the supplier's own minimum quantity allows it and your basket meets the order minimum. Sample orders are a normal thing to do before committing to a bulk buy, and your account manager can help pick between two candidates.
The listing is in Chinese. How reliable is the translation?
Titles and descriptions are machine-translated from the supplier's own text, so they are accurate about the product and occasionally awkward in phrasing. The photographs, the price and the specifications come straight from the supplier. If anything about a listing is unclear, ask us before ordering and we will check with the supplier.
Can I search with a photo instead of a name?
Yes. Use the camera button in the search bar and upload the picture. It is often the fastest route when you know exactly what a product looks like but not what it is called in a wholesale catalogue.
Paying
When do I pay, and how much?
In two parts. 50% of the product price when you place the order, and the remaining 50% plus the shipping charge on delivery. No shipping is charged up front, because at that point nobody knows the weight.
Why is shipping not included in the price?
Because it is charged per kilogram and the listed weight of a product is an estimate. Quoting a fixed figure would mean either overcharging most customers or undercharging and coming back for more later. Your parcel is weighed in Dhaka, you are told the exact amount, and you pay it on delivery. The full rates are published here.
Do I have to pay customs duty separately?
No. Customs clearance and import duty are our responsibility and are covered by the shipping rates. Nobody from customs or the courier should ever bill you directly for a Klin Source shipment. If that happens, call your account manager before paying anything.
What happens if the exchange rate moves after I order?
Nothing. The price of a confirmed order is fixed at confirmation and does not move with the rate afterwards, in either direction.
Shipping and delivery
How long does an order take to arrive?
By air, roughly 15 to 25 days from the day goods leave China. Add a few days at the start for the supplier to ship to our warehouse. Expect longer around Chinese New Year, when suppliers and freight both stop for weeks.
Can I choose sea freight to save money?
Often, and it is dramatically cheaper. It is not available for every product, though, and it adds weeks. Your account manager confirms whether your specific order can travel by sea, and what it would cost, before you commit to the balance.
How is the shipping charge worked out?
Rate per kilogram, multiplied by your parcel's weight as measured in Dhaka. Bulky but light goods are charged on volumetric weight where that is greater, and we tell you when that applies before you pay. Shipping Charge sets out the current rates.
Do you deliver outside Dhaka?
Yes, across the country through our courier partners. Remote areas may carry a courier surcharge, and you are told the amount before dispatch rather than at the door.
When something goes wrong
What if the item is out of stock after I have paid?
You are refunded. We do not hold inventory, so stock belongs to the supplier and can go between your order and our purchase. We will offer an alternative if there is a good one, but we will never substitute something without asking you first.
It arrived damaged, wrong or short. What now?
Photograph the carton, the label and the item before unpacking further, and tell us within 48 hours of delivery. Open a complaint from Complain or send the photographs to your account manager. Valid claims are refunded or replaced in full, including their share of the shipping.
Can I cancel after ordering?
Free before we buy from the supplier, partial once we have bought and the supplier charges us to cancel, and not available for a change of mind once the goods have shipped. Returns & Refund sets out all three windows.
How long does a refund take?
Approved within three business days of a complete claim, and paid within seven business days of approval, back to the method you paid with. You can take a credit against your next order instead, which is applied immediately.
Your account
Why is there no password?
Because a password is one more thing to lose. You sign in with a six-digit code sent to your phone or your email; receiving the code is the proof. The first code you ever receive creates the account, so there is no separate sign-up.
Can I have my data deleted?
Yes. Email info@klinsourcebd.com from your registered address and we delete your profile, addresses and browsing history. Completed orders are kept in a minimal form for the legally required tax and customs period. Privacy Policy has the detail.
Still not answered?
